Why are you running for the U.S. Congress?

My concern with where the current administration is heading and the future of my children’s well being have influenced my decision. I believe we as citizens must stand up for the principals that have made our country great. I will represent Colorado’s Second Congressional District by listening to what my constituents say and act accordingly. We have started to see history in the making, first hand. A negative forecast looms over our great country heading for a socialist government. An administration informing us of what health care we can and cannot select, reduction in benefits to our seniors, higher taxes for citizens and small businesses all are leading to larger intrusive government.

Why are you running for the U.S. Congress?

I am running for Congress because if good people don’t run towards the fire, this Congress and this administration will permanently damage America. My wife Rene and I have three young children–one in kindergarten, a two-year old and a newborn–and I am determined to prevent the Pelosi-Perlmutter Congress and the Obama administration from destroying the country that my children will one day inherit. I am equally determined to prevent government bureaucrats from dictating key healthcare choices affecting my eight-six year old Mom.
The last time I went to Iraq, it was as a Citizen-Soldier, part of a proud National Guard tradition. I want to go to Washington as part of another tradition that our Founders intended–as a Citizen-Statesman. I want to continue to serve; to use my deep background in the private sector and the military to help rebuild our economy the right way and keep America safe.

Why are you running for the U.S. Congress?

I am running to restore our liberty and the Constitution, which established a government limited to the protection of our rights.

What are the most pressing problems facing our country that you hope to address as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives?

A government that has usurped powers far beyond those delegated to it by us, the people. The result is a government that creates massive interference in the economy and in our personal lives. See answers to the other questions for more specifics.
Why are you running for the U.S. Congress?

For too many years we have looked to the government to take care of us and now we see what our government is doing to us. I now believe that the future of our freedom is in great danger. The values and principles that made this country great are nowhere to be found in government. Our “representatives” no longer listen to us. They are spending money that we do not have and passing laws in areas that are not authorized by the Constitution. They are violating the very same Constitution that they swore an oath to uphold.

My congressman convinced me, when I reviewed his voting record, to come out of retirement and get involved. Our kids and our grandkids deserve a future and I will make sure that their voice is heard.
Why are you running for the U.S. Congress?

I’m running for Congress because I believe we owe our children a better America, just as our parents gave us a better America. That’s the duty of every generation of Americans.

My voice will be strong and clear when it comes to those issues that real families in the 7th Congressional District are dealing with every day: finding & keeping a good job, providing their children a good start in life, and making their own decisions as to how best to live their lives.

I bring to the table a unique military intelligence and private sector background. I currently serve in local government and helped found a charter school. I’m a husband and father of three, and I believe my faith, family, and commitment to work towards real solutions have prepared me for this office.
Why are you running for the U.S. Congress?

I think our country is on the path to financial ruin. My retirement fund (and yours) will be worthless if we continue our current political ways. I realized that the federal government is not being run with honor and care. I, therefore, am stepping up to be a representative of the people. Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution provides a very clear and limited set of things congress is supposed to do. I don’t see anyone else willing to keep the federal government within those limitations.

What are the most pressing problems facing our country that you hope to address as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives?

I hope to address our perpetual wars and the deficit spending we use to continue them. Fighting on the other side of the planet is the most expensive thing we could do as a nation. This helps our enemies justify their hatred of the U.S.A. and leads our country to financial insolvency. Let’s put the cost and logistical burden of attack on the enemy. The CIA knows what they’re up to, and we’ll be locked and loaded when our enemies make a move.

HONOLULU – The Republican National Committee, pressed to find a way to more clearly distinguish itself from Democrats, on Friday adopted a rule that will prod GOP leaders to provide financial support to only those candidates who support the party’s platform.

The resolution, enacted by voice vote with no opposition at the party’s winter meeting here, is an alternative to a more stringent proposal that would have required GOP candidates to support 10 policy positions if they wanted party help. Read the rest of this entry »
