Why are you running for the U.S. Congress?

I think our country is on the path to financial ruin. My retirement fund (and yours) will be worthless if we continue our current political ways. I realized that the federal government is not being run with honor and care. I, therefore, am stepping up to be a representative of the people. Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution provides a very clear and limited set of things congress is supposed to do. I don’t see anyone else willing to keep the federal government within those limitations.

What are the most pressing problems facing our country that you hope to address as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives?

I hope to address our perpetual wars and the deficit spending we use to continue them. Fighting on the other side of the planet is the most expensive thing we could do as a nation. This helps our enemies justify their hatred of the U.S.A. and leads our country to financial insolvency. Let’s put the cost and logistical burden of attack on the enemy. The CIA knows what they’re up to, and we’ll be locked and loaded when our enemies make a move.

Mark Nicastle, a 30-veteran of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, recently decided to leave the Democratic Party and become a Republican this year to run against his boss, Sheriff Doug Darr. Although a Democrat most of his adult life, Nicastle said the switch was easy. "I feel like a lost guy and I just came back home again," he explained.

Adams County Republicans have welcomed Nicastle with open arms. County Chair Clark Bolser is glad to have a well respected member of the law enforcement community running as a Republican. He also hopes voters see the sheriff’s race as an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to term limits. Darr is only able to run for a third term because the Democrat Adams County Commissioners placed a voter referendum on the November 2009 ballot allowing third terms for Adams County office holders.

HONOLULU – The Republican National Committee, pressed to find a way to more clearly distinguish itself from Democrats, on Friday adopted a rule that will prod GOP leaders to provide financial support to only those candidates who support the party’s platform.

The resolution, enacted by voice vote with no opposition at the party’s winter meeting here, is an alternative to a more stringent proposal that would have required GOP candidates to support 10 policy positions if they wanted party help. Read the rest of this entry »

No tax increases during a recession! DEMS push anti-small business and anti-family legislation without clear advance notice on House Calendar.  This is a deliberate attempt to stifle debate and ram these tax-raising and job-cutting policies through without the public’s attention. All Republicans on House Finance will be opposed.  It is a 6-5 committee; so ONE Democrat vote against can kill a bill.

Colorado is one of just a few states that have a combination of both Caucus and Primary to determine party nominees for a General Election.  Here’s how it works:

The Caucus:

is the absolute grass roots step.  Each precinct holds its own caucus, which is open to every Republican in that precinct who has been affiliated with the party for at least 60 days and registered in the precinct for at least 30 days.  The caucus is held (by state statute) every even-numbered (general election) year on the third Tuesday of March at 7:00pm.
